Putting Young Kentuckians to Work Program
West Kentucky Workforce Board (WKWB) is part of a new 2-year, $20,000,000 statewide initiative through the 10 workforce boards, to place Kentucky’s 16–24-year-olds in self-sustaining employment. Putting Young Kentuckians to Work is included in House Bill 1 from the 2024 Kentucky Legislative session. This legislation was sponsored in part through the leadership of Pennyrile and Purchase area legislators Jason Petrie, Elkton, Steven Rudy, Paducah, and Randy Bridges, Paducah.
West Kentucky Workforce Board is focusing on assisting individuals 18-24 years of age with short-term training, work experience, On-the-Job Training, and other services as needed to secure full time employment that provides a livable wage. The economic impact of placing these individuals to work will be felt throughout our 17-county region as WKWB helps employers fill their workforce needs and places young Kentuckians in an improved income status.
