USDOL Award to Fort Campbell Strong Workforce Partnership

On October 22, 2018, the West Kentucky Workforce Board and the Northern Middle Tennessee Workforce Board held a funding presentation to announce the U.S. Department of Labor’s $7.76 million award to assist transitioning military and their spouses. The funding presentation included special guests and speakers including: Tennessee Department of Labor Commissioner Burns Phillips, Kentucky Education & Workforce Development Deputy Secretary Mike Nemes, Deputy Command General (Support) 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) BG Todd Royar, and Deputy Assistant Secretary Veterans Employment & Training Services (VETS) Washington, DC Matt Miller. Representatives from USDOL Region 3-Atlanta from the Employment & Training Administration and VETS also attended. The grant will assist approximately 1,400 transitioning military from Fort Campbell into a successful economic transition to high demand sector occupations in expanding or emerging jobs by enhanced career services, job preparation/ training and work based learning. The response will be delivered through a joint TN-KY specialty designed career center developed near Fort Campbell. The Fort Campbell Strong Workforce Partnership is the joint effort of these two (2) Workforce Boards representing Kentucky and Tennessee.
